Pat lays down the law in Seniors

PAT Brannigan triumphed in the Open Seniors competition during County Armagh Golf Club Open Week.

The affable Pat returned 41 points to clinch the top prize in the stableford competition sponsored by Ian Dawson and Co. Solicitors.

A birdie two at the 9th hole saw Pat complete his outward trek with 20 points. And he was to go one better on the back nine to add a further 21 points for a winning total 41.

Two 'no score's' for runner up Colin Gamble at the 1st and 12 holes ultimately cost him. He was just a point behind Pat on 40 points, chalking up 19 on the front nine which included a birdie 2 at the 3rd hole, and 21 points on the back nine.

Roy Turner similarly will be disapointed at failing to score at the par 3 9th hole. His 39 points however, secured third prize.

Declan McReynolds was playing catch-up in the competition-winning takes with son Jarleth by carding 38 points to take fourth prize.

The fifth prize went to former Armagh man and BBC staff member Davy Lynas, a visitor from Ballyclare Golf club. He scored 38 points and but for a 'ding' at the last would have found himself much further up the prize winners list.

Bringing up the rear, Colin Wallace collected the final prize on the day with 37 points.
