Day of celebration to mark special milestone

A Classic Golf competition on Friday 22 nd May will be the highlight of a special celebration to mark 40 years since County Armagh Golf Club expanded from a nine hole to an 18-hole course.

The competition will be part of a day-long series of events reflecting on the club history and the memories of current and past members.

As well as the golf competition, plans include an exhibition of how the club has changed and developed over the years, with pictures and mementoes illustrating the history of the club and how it has been at the heart of the local community. The day will conclude with music and entertainment in the clubhouse providing an opportunity for friends of County Armagh to join members, current and past, in the special celebration.


Announcing details of the County Armagh Golf Club Classic Competition to be held on Friday May 22 nd to mark the 40 th anniversary of the 18-hole course, are Lady Captain Margaret Marjoram (front right) and Lady Vice Captain Una Cullinane with Captain Richard Black (right) and Vice-Captain Marty Oliver, reading up on the history of the club.

County Armagh Golf Club to celebrate 40 year course anniversary

Captain Richard looks forward to exciting new season

A new and exciting competition season lies ahead for the members of County Armagh Golf Club in 2015, according to its Captain Richard Black.

The picturesque woodland course set within the City's Palace Demesne, is celebrating 40 years as an 18-hole venue. And with over 100 competitive events planned for the forthcoming season, a special anniversary celebration is indeed on the cards.

Captain's Day is the highlight annually for every golf club, but County Armagh Captain Richard will this year enjoy a double celebration as the club marks an exciting milestone.

“I've put my Captain's Day back until the end of July (25 th ) to allow some time for the club and members to celebrate County Armagh's 40 years as an 18-hole course,” explains Richard.

Philip gets season off to winning start

PHILIP Kelly has certainly got the new season off to a winning start at County Armagh.

With some impressive scoring he has already captured the CP McNabb Trophy and won the Easter Stableford. On both occasions he recorded 45 stableford points to win the back-to-back competitions. Mark Shannon was runner up in the Easter Stableford with 44points.
