Great conditions and great scores were the order of the day last Thursday when the Ladies played in the first eighteen hole competition of the year.
The Three Ball Scramble attracted more than fifty Ladies out of hibernation which was great to see. The winning team was a winning combination of Mrs Lily McMullan, Mrs Nicola Spence and Mrs Teresa McVeigh with a tremendous 65.3. The closest team on their tails was the team of Mrs Francis Davidson, Mrs Pauline Gingles and Mrs Gail Steed returning a commendable 66.9.
Lady Captain Mrs Margaret Marjoram thanked all the Ladies for taking part and applauded the winners and their great scores.
Next weeks competition is the PGA Tankard.
14 brave ladies battled against the elements on a very wet Thursday.
The scores were excellent considering the conditions and the winners were presented their prizes by Lady Vice Captain Mrs Una Cullinane:
Winner - Mrs Ellen Brady 29 points
Runner up - Mrs Valerie Gordon 29 points
Third - Mrs Vera Ellingham 26 points
Front 9 - Mrs Geraldine Rafferty - 17 points
Following two exciting knockout weeks, the popular annual Putting Competition culminated in a nail biting final between winners Team Hilary and runners up Team Shea on Friday 27th March.
20 teams entered the overall competition with 12 winning through to the final. The Ladies Committee hosted the competition and provided supper on each of the nights. Our thanks goes to the Competition Sponsor Ellen Brady who also provided hot food, Dobs for the complimentary tea and coffee and Paula McCrory who organised and refereed the event.
