Women - News & Results

53 ladies played in the Club Stableford on Thursday 11 th August. The runaway winner with a superb 44 points was Katherine Steenson. Runner-up was Colette McSorley with 39 points and Aoife Lennon came in third with 37 points.

45 ladies played in the club stroke competition held on the 28 th July. The results were:

1 st : Colette McSorley nett 69

2 nd : Bernie Rice nett 70

3 rd : Donna Carolan nett 73 (beating Joy Steenson on the better back 9)

Prizewinners in the Margaret Deane Mixed Greensomes held last Friday evening were:

1 st : H Johnston and S Stevenson nett 63

2 nd : K Steenson and C O'Hare nett 64.5

3 rd : A Black and R Black nett 66

The Lady Captain Mrs Una Cullinane presents a cheque to the value of £1636 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. The money raised was in lieu of gifts on her recent Lady Captain’s Day.

County Armagh Golf Club was the 2016 venue for the ILGU Veterans’ Cup held on Monday 1st August and the host club was certainly well represented in the prizes.

Geraldine Rafferty was the overall winner with Sheila Stinson runner-up. Fionnuala Quinn was in third place while June Humphries collected the Gross prize.

The Ladies Summer Open Stableford held on Thursday 4 th August was again very generously sponsored by Johnston's Bakery and Hilary presented the prizes to the delighted winners. The competition was well supported by both lady members and visitors. The top prize went to Denise Murphy with 39 points beating Siobhan Donnelly into second place on the better back 3. Third was Colette McSorley on 37 points and fourth Ann O'Reilly also 37 points. The Gross prize was won by Ellen Brady with 28 gross points.

This year 58 ladies played for the Ellie Mayne Cup which was won by a delighted Gillian Poole with 41 points. Hilary Johnston came second with 39 points and Catherine McAnerney third with 37 points. The Lady Captain welcomed James Hewitt from Hewitt Meats a new sponsor for this competition saying how much the ladies appreciate his very generous support.
