Women - News & Results

Congratulations to Erin Connolly who has been selected for the ILGU Ulster Girls under 18 Team to play in the Inter- Provincial matches at Woodenbridge G C in April.

Well done to Hilary Johnston and Geraldine Rafferty who won their 1st round match in Tandragee in the Daily Mail 4 Ball Better Ball competition on the 16th March. Their next round will be on home soil.

The Hirsch cup draw has been made. The sheet is up in the ladies locker room and the 1st round matches must be played by the 25th April. Both players are responsible for arranging their match so please get in touch in good time.

Team Captains are busy scouting round for players as the matches are getting underway. Please give them plenty of support and we wish all our teams good luck. Play well and enjoy!

A sum of £700 has been returned to the Ladies Branch by the ILGU. The Committee are inviting the ladies to forward suggestions as to how the money could be used. If you have any ideas please contact the Lady Captain or a lady committee member.

There will be a SPRING FLOWERS demonstration by Kay Casey on Thursday 2nd April at 7.30pm in the clubhouse. The entrance fee is £5 and proceeds will be in aid of "Habitat for Humanity". Tickets are available behind the bar and light refreshments will be served.

Birdies were recorded by E Brady (7th hole) and B Gartland (10th Hole)

The Link Cup is now into the 2nd round. Please note that these matches must be played by the 18th April.

Both players are responsible for arranging the match.

The results of the Spring Team Competition will be announced at the prizegiving on Thursday 2nd April.

NORTHERN DISTRICT RULES SCHOOL 2009

 

In order to encourage a wider knowledge of The Rules of Golf the Northern District Rules Officials

propose to organise a Training Day in APRIL for any Lady Member of your Golf Club

who may wish to become an ILGU Rules Official.

The day course will start at 10.00am and finish before 4.00pm and will include the following:-

                                                        How to read and learn The Rules of Golf

                                                        How to read and learn the Decision Book.

                                                         How to prepare for a championship.

                                                        The Role of a Rules Official on a Championship Course.

This year's Putting Competition will be run on the following nights:-

1st Qualifying Night - 20th February    2nd Qualifying Night - 27th February     Finals night  - 6th March

16 Teams will compete each Qualifying night with the Top 8 Teams from both nights progressing to the Finals night.

Each Team has a designated Team Captain who will be responsible for organising his/her Team and the respective matches in their group.

Each Team will consist of 5 players (men/women/mixed) - cost £20 per Team

Each player will take 9 putts - 3 from each of 3 marked distances. The team with the highest score wins the match.

2 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. The top 2 teams from each group will qualify.

A list of the designated Team Captains is available on the notice boards in the club.

The draw will be made at the start of February.

The event is being organised by Barbara Gartland and the Ladies committee. If you wish to take part please contact any of the the Team Captains or Barbara. Refreshments will be provided on each night.
