County Armagh Golf Club Northern Ireland

The run of poor weather continued for the ladies of Co. Armagh on the last Thursday of June. The morning starters enjoyed a comparatively dry round of golf while the afternoon players had to contend with wet and windy conditions. This was reflected in the scores, some of which owed more to perseverance than golfing prowess. Those who made it into the winner's enclosure were a presented with an array of beautiful gifts which had been sourced from “Devine by Donna”.

A full list of prize winners is set out below but the winner of the Club Stroke with an outstanding score of nett 70 was June Humphries . A delighted June graciously accepted her first prize from the Lady Captain Mrs Gail Steed.

Club Stroke Competition Results: -

9-hole competition winner with 19 points = Donna Carolan.

Back nine winner with nett 39 =Nicola Spence

Front nine winner with nett 44 = Francis Davidson beating Gillian Poole and Denise Murphy on countback.

Category D winner with nett 81 = Anne O'Hea

Category C winner with nett 76 = Anne O'Reilly.

Category B winner with nett 76 = Karen Edgar.

Category A winner with nett 74 = Paula McCrory.

The gross prize was won by Ellen Brady with a gross 73.

Third place went to Fionnaula Quinn whose nett 73 was not enough to displace Barbara Hamilton whose nett 72 secured her second place.

The highlight of June's very consistent round of nett 70 were birdies at the 1 st and 4 th holes. The twos pot was divided between Geraldine Rafferty and Colette McAleavey who both had birdies at the 7 th .

The Lady Captain Gail warmly congratulated the ladies who had won prizes in the Captain's Prize Competition played the previous week.

Phil Rice had secured 1 st place with an excellent 41 points , closely followed by Colette McAleavey who took second place with 40 points .

The 9 hole competition was won by Gina Morris with 17points .

As a result of these impressive performances the following handicap cuts were applied :- Lynne Brown 30 to 29, Colette McAleavey 18 to 17 and Phil Rice 22 to 20.
